If you're interested in adopting from me, please read below, before contacting me via the contact form. And check the puppyplans for relevance, at present time, I won't have a litter before 2025 at the earliest. I do not answer the short e-mails just asking if I have puppies and the like. I only adopt my puppies to responsible owners, who show true interest in the breed - therefore, write about how you live and what you can offer my puppy and please, for both of our sakes, be honest! How do you live (house, family?), what do you expect from an Entlebucher and what can you offer a puppy (walks, training, competition?), do you have prior experience with dog(ownership)? I am not asking for perfect homes, but I want to be able to sort my puppies to the homes that suit them best possible and it has to be a home suited for en Entlebucher. I will return as soon as possible and we may arrange a phone call and/or a visit, so you can meet my dogs and we can get to know each other. I do not sell a puppy to a person who has not met the mother and me. |
A puppy from my breeding
Puppies from my breeding will be after parents that are health tested for relevant diseases. I do not condone inbreeding - I do not have eyes that can look at my dog's DNA through it's skin and thus inbreeding causes too high a risk of diseases for my liking. I will seek broadly to find a suitable male. I prefer a natural mating, but if the distance becomes too much, I won't put my female through the stress of travelling across countries and insemination may then become a thing.
My own breeding bitch has undergone any test I've found personally relevant, but not everyone test as thoroughly as I do. Temperamentwise I am also very critical and aggression is not allowed in any of the breeding stock dogs. Mental traits are heritable and should be taken serious - working ability, arousal tendency (stress), fear, ressource guarding etc.. And while no one dog is perfect, you have to, as a breeder, be aware of your own dogs' strengths and weaknesses, as well as your thresshold, so you can find a male that will compliment your bitch - or if your dog should even breed. Health and temperament are my top priorities, but of course the dogs are also Entlebuchers. I will look to the standard, too, in chosing a male, but if I have to compromise, I have no doubt as to where. The welfare of the dog weights the most, not the comformation of the Entlebucher. An unthriving dog is more prone to diseases - and a sick dog is more prone to stress! And in truth I believe this (a main focus on health and temperament) is the way to maintain a breed for the future and not just for today.
My dogs live with me and are part of my family. I will have made precautions to ensure as stressfree a pregnancy as possible, as stress will affect the puppies stress hormone levels negatively both during pregnancy, as well as after birth. I will keep the mother as physically fit as possible to ensure a healthy pregnancy and birth.
I feed high quality kibble and the puppies will get the same while being weaned off.
Before 3 weeks of age I won't allow any stranger visitors, but the puppies will be handled every day by me and my closest family, whome the bitch trusts, and I will slowly start to expose them to different stimuli according to their age.
They will get access to a garden, they will be used to the presence of both their mother and my other dog. They will have different kinds of toys, that stimulate them psycially and motorically and I will make sure they get used to different sounds, such as the hover, sound files with thunder and fireworks, "toys" that make strange noises, etc.
As soon as they are old enough, I will also start taking them on car trips to areas of interest - e.g. close to play grounds, the beach, the wood etc.
Socialisation is of uttermost importance with an Entlebucher and I expect my puppies' families to continue this work, so they will thrive in a normal life and not worry about strangers. I also expect my puppies' families to carry out relevant health checks on their puppy - both for their own sake, so they know if they have to take precautions. But just as much for my sake, as it will give me a truer picture of what I've bred and if I should keep breeding on the mother. There will be taken a deposit upon buying the pup, that I will send back, when the health tests have been made.
Along with the puppy, you will get:

Adopting from abroadAccording to Danish regulation, a puppy may be sold from they are 8 weeks of age. At this age, an Entlebucher will be 6-7kg and therefore only just light enough for travelling by plane in the cabin with most companies. I will not sell a puppy to travel by cargo.
If you do not live in Denmark, you have to be aware of your country's rules for import of young animals for non-commercial reasons. Most countries demand a rabies vaccination, which cannot be given before the puppies are 12 weeks old and it takes 21 days before it is "active", thus the puppy can't be moved before it is 15 weeks old. A few countries do make an exception, look here for details. If your country does not accept young, un-vaccinated animals, you have to pick up the puppy by car, train or other. I will of course provide the puppy with perfect care till then, living as part of the family. This means it will be trained through positive reinforcement for the daily life and it will be socialised appropriately! My puppies are my deepest responsibility! |
